Hannah Maiden

Hannah is the Co Owner of the Music School.

She has been a professional musician for 14 years and in that time has played and recorded for a number of bands and solo artists namely, My Immortal, Bella Diem, Toby Lee and is currently playing for Little Juke.

Hannah tours and performs UK wide and had the pleasure of playing the Blues Haven festival in Denmark in 2019 with Toby Lee, whilst also appearing in two of his music videos "Take it Easy" and "Kansas City" off Lee's "Aquarius" album.

Currently with Little Juke, their debut album was released in February this year following four single releases off the album so far. The album has garnered worldwide airplay, most notably from John Kennedy on Radio X. Little Juke have also recently had a song commissioned by the BBC programme 'Phoenix Rise', (currently streaming on IPlayer). They have also just been involved in the filming of an episode in Season 3. Hannah has been lucky enough to play and be on the same bill as Toploader, Neville Staple (The Specials), Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Hunna, The Vamps, The Waterboys, Frank Turner.

Hannah graduated from the British Academy of New Music in London, in 2012. She also has an A level in Music production. Hannah has over a decade of experience in teaching electric, acoustic and bass guitar, with all ages, skills and abilities and tailors every lesson to suit each student's needs. And is keen to inspire the next generation of musicians.

Jack Timmis

In the Thirteen years of being a professional musician Jack has performed far and wide and for a variety of bands and solo artists. He has toured and performed in Armenia, Macedonia, Germany, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Norway, Finland, Sweden, The Netherlands, Ireland, Czech Republic and Belgium. He has recorded and performed with Joanne Shaw Taylor, HVMM, Aynsley Lister, Virgil and the Accelerators, Toby Lee, Ric Lee (10 years after), Di Reed (Jade) and is currently playing for Laurence Jones and signed to Marshall Records.

His latest album with Jones "Bad Luck and the Blues" has reached number 1 on the official Blues and Jazz chart, as well as number 15 on the official independent chart.

He has also been lucky enough to open for Johnny Winter, Wilko Johnson, Bruce Foxton, Vintage Trouble, Uriah Heep, Robin Trower, Michael Schenker, and last year his biggest support slot, opening for Status Quo on their UK tour. Jack is also endorsed by Lakland bass guitars. He also has a BA in Music composition from Derby University.

Jack specialises in the bass guitar and he is also experienced in electric and acoustic guitars, with years of know how, in teaching students of all ages, skills and needs.

Chris Hoggarth

  • Flute

Christopher studied Music as an Undergraduate and Postgraduate at the University of Nottingham, where he conducted the University Orchestras, including their 2011 tour to Italy. He gained the University's Performance Award for three consecutive years. Whilst at University, Christopher studied conducting with Jonathan Tilbrook and privately with Mark Heron. He also participated in several masterclasses including the Colin Metters International Conducting Masterclass.

Christopher's main instrument is the flute, and he has performed regularly as a soloist and as an orchestral player. He holds the LRSM for Flute Performance. He also performs as a piano accompanist and has studied the violin, voice, and percussion, also taking the Grade 1 trombone exam for charity.

Christopher's conducting engagements have covered a broad spectrum of work encompassing orchestras, wind ensembles, choirs and musical theatre. This includes concerts across Europe, namely Austria, Italy, Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

Christopher has also worked with Nottingham Symphony Orchestra, York Symphony Orchestra, Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia Silvana.

With over 1 million streams on all platforms Chris also showcases an impressive production repertoire.

Combine this with Chris' 10 years of teaching and his love and passion, for not only teaching instruments and production, but how music works - composition - he is keen to inspire others to do the same.

Jake Oakey

  • Drums

Jake is a proficient drummer with 8 years of experience. His qualifications include a first-class BA Hons degree in professional musicianship, along with a grade 8 RSL award. He has played gigs across Birmingham at venues including the 02 Institute, the Actress and Bishop, the Flapper.

Jake always adapts his methods to benefit his students, planning meaningful lessons which center around the student’s musical interests and aspirations.

His aim is to inspire students to learn the drums in a fun yet productive way.

Ethan Hoad

  • Saxophone

Ethan is a saxophonist and composer based in Bromsgrove. A graduate of the prestigious Jazz course at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, he specialises in improvised music and offers lessons in saxophone technique, jazz, improvisation, music theory and composition. Ethan works with students of all levels, tailoring lessons to suit individual needs and musical interests. With a focus on both technical skills and creative expression, Ethan helps students improve saxophone technique, including breath control, embouchure, articulation, and tone production. He also covers topics such as jazz theory, improvisation, ear training, and arranging for various ensembles. Ethan’s approach is adaptive and supportive, ensuring each student develops a strong foundation while exploring their unique musical voice.

Huwaida Lowe

  • Piano

Huwaida is a dedicated piano teacher and composer based in Bromsgrove, with a degree in composition from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Her student-led approach focuses on making music an enjoyable and rewarding experience for learners of all ages and abilities.

Her piano lessons cover performance, classical technique, music theory, ear training, and notation, ensuring a well-rounded musical foundation. She also incorporates elements of composition for those interested in creative exploration.

With a background in orchestral and choral composition, Huwaida brings a broad stylistic perspective to her teaching, drawing from classical, jazz, folk, and contemporary music. She believes that anyone can learn to play and create music, and that it's never too late to start.

Adam Smith

Adam is a dedicated music educator and multi-instrumentalist with over six years of teaching experience. After five years of private instruction, he joined Bromsgrove School of Music in 2024, where he now teaches piano and guitar.

Adam holds qualifications from three major London music schools: ICMP (Higher Diploma), ACM (BA in Professional Music Performance), and LCCM (MA in Music Production).

A skilled multi-instrumentalist, Adam plays guitar, bass, piano, and saxophone. He has performed with several bands and on stages ranging from small venues to festivals

His lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, with a focus on creativity, confidence, and enjoyment. His lessons are designed to inspire, empower, and spark joy—because for Adam, the first and most important step is helping students fall in love with their instrument.

Holly Gowland

  • Double Bass

Holly is a double bass and piano teacher with a broad musical background as both a performer and composer. She trained classically on the double bass and piano, and has performed across the UK in a wide range of settings - from orchestral concerts at Symphony Hall Birmingham and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to experimental music events at venues such as Centrala and the Hippodrome.

Holly studied Composition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (BMus Hons), followed by a Master’s at the University of Oxford, and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Birmingham, researching the relationship between sound, space, and performance. Her creative work has been presented internationally and she has won numerous awards, including the Henfrey Prize for Composition and the Musicians’ Union Bill Warman Award for the most promising music creator.

As a teacher, Holly brings a supportive and imaginative approach, encouraging students to develop strong technical foundations while also exploring musical expression and creativity. Alongside her teaching, she continues to compose and perform, and is the co-founder of Electra Music, an initiative promoting women in electronic music and production.

Miles Dunkley

  • Drums

Miles is a profound drummer and composer, he is a dynamic and passionate mentor dedicated to inspiring the next generation of drummers. Miles brings a modern approach to teaching with humour and fresh energy which helps his students of all ages and abilities feel at home in his lessons. He thrives with creativity in rhythm and is engaging and incredibly enthusiastic.

Miles is currently finishing his degree in music performance at Bimm university, he received a triple distinction* in music at Telford college and has been known to appear at ‘Farmer Phil’s Festival’ performing 20 minute improvised drum solos. He has both much experience in live performance, studio recordings and composition which is invaluable to his students.
